Living With 2025

Living With is an exhibition and an invitation to discover the lived experience of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Through the intersection of the perspectives of two photographers, two cultures, two countries, and diverse life paths, this exhibition shines a light on a chronic condition often misunderstood, as well as the daily challenges it imposes.
Across all regions of the world, type 1 diabetes is not just a matter of medicines and medical follow-up: it is a mental burden, a management of uncertainty, deeply personal, yet carrying a shared reality. Each person, though faced with unique challenges, experiences a collective journey marked by constant balance and common coping strategies that allow them to overcome obstacles and live life to its fullest. This exhibition becomes a symbolic bridge, a place where gazes meet and realities are shared, despite cultural and geographical distances.
This exhibition highlights the experiences of people living with type 1 diabetes, their strength, perseverance, and ability to face adversity. These images are not only portraits of type 1 diabetes, but powerful testimonies of humanity, strength, and solidarity. This exhibition is part of a long-standing collaboration between the University of Geneva, the Geneva University Hospitals, the NGO Santé Diabète, and various partners in Mali, carried out through the NCD Policy Lab and with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
